Fun Facts
Two of my passions include volunteering as an EMT and crocheting! I also enjoy reading and learning new skills. For instance, this summer, I taught myself faux calligraphy! I also spend some of my time volunteering as a crisis counselor for Crisistextline! Another one of my newly developed passions includes learning more about the food sciences, macro-counting, and exercising and learning new ways to incorporate nutrients into my diet while also educating those around me of the new info I learn!
About Me
I attended Fordham University for the past two years and I am now transferring to the University of Michigan where I am majoring in Biopsychology, Cognition, & Neuroscience. I have also chosen a minor in Chemistry and I am on the pre-med track. I hope to one day apply to medical school and become a doctor.
Experience
In high school, I volunteered students as a part of the National Honor Society, the National French Honor Society, and the National Math Honor Society. I have also volunteered as a tutor for EyeLevel, an agency in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, and taught Math and English to elementary school and middle school children. Tutoring children has helped me develop another one of my passions, tutoring, which I hope to foster through working with Frog Tutoring.
Approach
Something that I struggled with when learning from a tutor was being able to pay attention to lectures. As such, through my past tutoring, I have attempted to encourage students to try problems or answer questions on their own. I found that this approach not only helped students stay involved in lectures, but also helped them remember the concepts when they needed to be recalled for assessments. Moreover, I have found that this approach also helps students understand information much better!
