Fun Facts

I enjoy taking time out of my day to meditate, journal, and promote self-discovery. When the chance presents itself, I love to hike and enjoy my time outdoors. In addition to watching anime during the quiet weekends.

About Me

Hi there! I currently teach elementary school in Dallas ISD in Dallas, TX. During most part of the day, I am teaching music to my campus of 300+ kids! I strive to create a welcoming and positive environment when my students walk into my classroom. When I am not in my music classroom, I am in and out of the classrooms around campus to assist students with math and reading. These students receive attention in small groups (4-5) or one-on-one time with a positive environment.

Experience

I graduated from Colorado State University-Pueblo with a Bachelors's in Music Education and immediately moved to Texas where I was first hired. I was an Assistant Band Direction/Color Guard Director for one year at the middle, junior high, and school in Wills Point ISD. One year later, I transitioned to Dallas ISD to teach elementary music and provide intervention in reading/math.

Approach

I take a concept and ask them everything they know about the subject matter (division, knowledge about the treble clef) and I observe their work. This is me assessing their knowledge of the topic to understand their knowledge regarding the matter. I never want to make them feel like they are incompetent regarding the subject matter. It is my job to fill in and gaps and promote learning!
