Fun Facts

I am the second oldest of four children and grew up in Katy, TX. I am very close with my family and spend much of my time with them. I prefer to be outdoors, if at all possible. I love to run, hike, camp, canoe, stand up paddle board and be on the lake or river or at the beach. I have a passion for education and helping others and have found my calling in teaching education/texas/houston">special education.

About Me

Both my undergraduate and graduate degrees are from houston">the houston">University of Houston-Victoria. My undergraduate degree is in education with a minor in special ed. For my graduate degree I worked under a grant program focusing on autism spectrum disorders. My graduate degree is in special ed with a focus on autism spectrum disorders. Experience

I worked as a paraprofessional in a life skills class for 2 years and the resource setting for 1 year in Katy ISD. I taught an elementary life skills class or 3 years in Fort Bend ISD and was a middle school math and science co-teacher for 1 year in Houston ISD. I am currently a education/texas/houston">special education department chairperson at the middle school level in Houston ISD.

Approach

I was fortunate to be brought up in a home that truly valued education. My younger brother has a learning disability and I often helped him with his school work. Through helping him, I learned to analyze tasks and content and break those into manageable pieces as well as to present them in engaging ways. It is my life's work to help others and I pursue that through helping my students be successful in their educational pursuits as well as to, hopefully, further inspire their drive for knowledge.
