Fun Facts
A passion of mine that is very important to me is traveling and learning new languages. I absolutely love exploring new places, visiting different cities and countries, trying new foods and learning new languages and making new friends along the way.
About Me
I am a second year 2nd grade ESL teacher in central New Jersey. I have my bachelor of arts from Rutgers University in Linguistics and a Masters in Education with an ESL certification also from Rutgers University. Right now my goal is to improve on becoming a better teacher by effectively differentiating instruction for my students.
Experience
During my time at college, I had the opportunity to tutor international students on a bi-weekly basis in their English and Writing classes. After graduating and becoming a teacher, I now have the opportunity to spend one on one time with my students where I am able to really figure out which strategies best work for each student in order to help them understand the concept at hand.
Approach
When I was younger I really struggled with rote memorization and having only one method to help me solve problems. In college, I finally realized that learning isn't a one size fits all, and that there are many ways to approach the same problem. As a tutor, this is the mindset that I would bring when interacting with all of my students. As a tutor, it is my responsibility to figure out the strategy that best works for each individual student and help the student learn in that way.
