Fun Facts

Settlers of Catan is my all time favorite board game. I'm a collector of Star Wars and Power Rangers merchandise. I like to distribute my findings at holiday toy drives. When I'm not on the hunt for pop culture treasures, I love to write TV and animation scripts. It's my dream to one day sit at a panel at San Diego Comic-Con to talk about my latest creation. My other dream is to teach History, English, and Theater at the elementary, middle, or high school level.

About Me

I graduated from UC San Diego with a BA Degree in Communication. For the past several years, I worked in Television Production at companies such as Netflix and Warner Bros. I'm currently looking to gain more tutoring experience and build strong connections so I can apply for a masters and credential program in education. My goal is to become a teacher with an emphasis in social justice. I believe in making an impact with the one life I have.

Experience

I helped train students in the art of Chinese lion dance. It is a mixture of martial arts and dance using a big paper mâché lion head. This traditional art form was performed in weddings, corporate events, and Chinese New Year parades. I taught to different personalities and ages of children who had various levels of discipline and skill. As for the academic world, I've tutored my baby brother and various children of friends and family.

Approach

My approach is story and performance oriented. I believe that children learn better through an experience. For example, History and English lessons can be turned into plays, with monologues on stage. I used to work at Radio Disney, where I interacted with children and played trivia games. This gave them opportunities to learn a few things and have fun at the same time. Another approach would be a conversational one. I would limit lectures to fifteen minutes at a time. Then engage with questions.
