Fun Facts
I enjoy reading mystery novels and paper crafting. I have recently tried to start a garden and that has been a bittersweet experience for me. Hopefully, I'll get to eat the fruits of my labor real soon.
About Me
I graduated from LeTourneau University with a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Administration. I currently teach at a local school district with the main responsibility of supporting students who struggle in Reading and Math. I support students in total literacy which includes reading/writing/phonics. I also support students who struggle to learn early math concepts.
Experience
I have been teaching for 14 years and I have worked with students from various backgrounds from age 3 to adults. I have taught all subjects in Elementary while supporting students in STAAR Prep for Reading, Writing, and Math. I enjoy teaching students who want/need to learn English and I have supported students with various home languages i.e. Spanish, Urdu, Korean, Chinese(Mandarin). I have worked with Gifted students and adults at the college level. I have also helped adults GED test prep.
Approach
My approach to teaching is to allow students to explore and use self discovery to learn new concepts. I survey each student to gain insight into how they learn and their main interest(s). I use this information to guide students through the learning process while allowing them to learn in a way that is most comfortable for them by using their personal learning style. Students use what they already know and their natural interest(s) to embrace new learning.
