About Me
I grew up on a farm in Kansas and attended Kansas State University, where I received my B.A. in Biology with minors in Philosophy and German. I recently completed Yoga Teacher Training and moved to Denver to study Thai Yoga Massage at Denver Integrative Massage School. Eventually, I would like to continue my conservation and organic farming work in addition to massage and yoga.
I began denver">tutoring grade school students my senior year of high school. It was such a powerful experience that I have been working with students on and off ever since. In college, I worked for Boys and Girls Clubs and an after school program called Wonder Workshop, in which I led programs in culture and science. Through Wonder Workshop, I started a program teaching kids how to garden and raise chickens in their backyard. At K-State, I was a teaching assistant for Principles of Biology and, in addition, had the chance to volunteer for GROW (Girls Researching Our World), putting on workshops for middle school girls on Botany and Farming & Soil Quality through my work with the K-State Herbarium and the K-State Student Farm, respectively.
I am a very active, hands-on learner, and this often transfers to my denver">tutoring style. However, everyone learns differently, and I love the challenge of discovering how to relay different concepts to each student’s unique mind. I often find that some of the biggest obstacles for students are their own mental blocks, whether it’s a lack of confidence, focus or interest. I love bringing life to learning, cultivating curiosity, and helping a student gain confidence in their abilities.
