Fun Facts

I am an aspiring poet. I like going for walks and being outside. Lately you can find me eating breakfast burritos and drinking iced green tea.

About Me

I did my undergraduate studies at Colby College, where I graduated with a 3.8 GPA, summa cum laude. I was also selected as a Phi Beta Kappa scholar. Then I got my masters in education at UMass Boston, with a 3.86 GPA. I'm about to enter my third and final year of my Masters in Fine Arts degree at UMass Boston and I currently have a 4.0. After this program, I may pursue college professor positions. I may be teaching undergrads in my third year of the program, and that experience may help clarify my career aspirations.

Last summer, I tutored students that just graduated high school, who were seeking acceptance into UMass. It was a program called "Directions for Student Potential." I assisted in the classroom and also tutored one-on-one. I enjoyed seeing students that were happily invested in their scholarship. I liked encouraging them that they could fulfill certain tasks, while also providing them assistance where needed. The experience helped me learn more about classroom management, and the composure that I needed to bring to my students. I tried to be a confident example.

I think that you have to let students develop the questions that they wish to ask you. A boston">tutor must be patient and good at listening. I've learned how to isolate the main issues that a student needs help with, and not overwhelming them by presenting too many areas of concern. I've also learned how to better move on from areas they understand well so we can pay attention to areas of struggle. Complimenting students on their achievements is essential. If working with writing, it's vital to recognize all that's working, if there will be hope for addressing areas that could be clarified or expanded.
