I love nature and enjoy hiking and running. I like to spend time at the Onion Creek Greenbelt and McKinney Falls State park here in South Austin. I also enjoy yoga and meditation.
About Me
I hold a PhD in History from the University of Texas at Austin. I'm currently working on publishing my dissertation into book form with a university press. I have also recently had an article accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal in my field. My field is Native American history. I'm also trained in Mexican-American history and American history (both parts).
Experience
I've worked as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Texas at Austin for six years teaching courses on U.S., Texas, and Mexican-American histories. Before that I was a classroom teacher in San Antonio at Harlandale High School. I taught World history, U.S. history, and AP U.S. history for seven years.
Approach
I employ multiple teaching strategies and draw from a wide variety of instructional styles. I hold a teaching certificate in Texas. I also employ humor and empathy.
