About Me
I am currently completing my Specialist degree in School Psychology at Barry University. During the 2014-2015 school year, I will complete my internship. After completion of my internship, I plan on earning my national certification and working as a school psychologist. I currently hold the historian position of a student run organization at Barry University called the Counseling and School Psychology Association. I earned my Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Education at Florida International University.
My four years experience working as a teacher and miami">tutor with children provided me with the opportunity to learn and develop many skills. I have taught a variety of subjects including math, reading, science, social studies, computers and health education. I have worked with students in grades K-6 and have been able to create an environment that both stimulates and motivates students with a variety of learning abilities. This experience has provided me with a strong work ethic and skills to be self-motivated, intuitive, and well organized.
I look at each student as an individual and view each of their particular strengths. I find it important to help each student develop these strengths in order to feel successful and develop a positive self-esteem. In addition, I like to assess each students areas for improvement to help them succeed both academically and personally. Finally, I think it is important to assess each students learning style so that they learn and process the strategies and skills being taught to them in the most appropriate way.
