Fun Facts
I love reading most of all and read at least 100 books a year. I also like to write in my free time and cycle on northern Chicago trails. I dream of getting a novel published some day, but will keep writing for the fun of it in the meantime!
About Me
I graduated with a B.A. in English from the College of William and Mary and am currently a grad student at Northeastern Illinois University for TESOL. My goal upon graduation is to help adults with English so that they can achieve their own goals in life.
Experience
I currently tutor ESL students at the Southeast Asian Center. I also teach guitar and creative writing to grades 1-5. In the past, I have taught ACT at Huntington Learning Center and also gave writing feedback at Ashford University Online.
Approach
To me, it's very important to listen to my students and help them achieve their own goals. Likewise, I also think it is very important to get feedback about what is and isn't working as far as my teaching and overall approach. I also like to pay attention to innate strengths. Everyone has these. It can be easy to get discouraged sometimes, but I hope to instill confidence by pointing out what the student is improving on, and also normalize the difficulty that most people face.
