Fun Facts
I am a super nutrition and fitness enthusiast who loves any type of sport/recreation /outdoor activity. I earned my 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo a few years ago, and I am currently training to run in the NYC marathon. On the side, I enjoy playing my violin, which I started learning in 12 years ago. I also enjoy nutritional research, cooking, and challenging myself to try something new every day.
About Me
I am a 4th year student at The Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, a combined 7-year BS/MD accelerated medical program. My major is medicine, and I earned a minor in psychology last year. My current GPA is a 3.9 and I will be receiving my MD at the end of the program. My goal is to complete my medical education and specialize in either internal medicine, cardiology, or neurosurgery, depending on how my interests change over the years.
As a National Honor Society member, I tutored my peers in high school in various subjects, including biology, mathematics, physics, and English. I also provided private tutoring for elementary and middle school students, assisting with their schoolwork and homework, and offered SAT tutoring for high school students. I am currently a reading tutor at the Reading Partners program at P.S.192 Elementary School in Harlem, NY. During the summer, I still mentor and tutor K-12 students in all general subjects. I am very happy to provide assistance to students who are enthusiastic and self-motivated, but I am also experienced in working with and encouraging less-motivated students, driven to help them realize their own potential and succeed.
All students have incredible potential as long as they possess the right mindset, motivation, and persistence. Each student comes from a unique background with different circumstances, and I believe that over time, a tutor can provide guidance, encouragement, and insight that can help the student discover his own potential and gain the drive to succeed. Having been raised by a mother who is an elementary school teacher, I experienced first-hand the results of patience and attention, and wish to impart these to the students I tutor. My tutoring sessions are interactive, keeping the student focused, and I make an effort to apply concepts to real-world scenarios that the student can relate to. I also help students improve study skills by providing advice on study strategies and techniques.
