I am a theatre kid of 23 years with a special passion for musicals. I just love singing! I also love writing and run a number of independent blogs in my free time mostly covering creative writing endeavors. I am the second oldest of four and have a real passion for education! My ultimate dream is to become an editor for prose novels, both fiction and non-fiction.

About Me

I am a 26 year-old Master of the Fine Arts in Creative Writing, Editing, and Publishing with a BA in English (concentration in Creative Writing) and a minor in Classical Studies. I ended my undergraduate career Summa Cum Laude. My ultimate dream is to channel my creative expertise into a role marrying my love of education and helping others achieve their full potential with my strong grasp of the English language.

Experience

For three years during my time as a graduate student I worked as an essay tutor in the Academic Success Center and for one year after that as a teaching assistant in a course we called "Integrated Reading and Writing"--a sort of remedial English course. During my undergraduate career I tutored officially for a year with the Honors College and unofficially as an independent essay tutor for the other three.

Approach

I believe that positivity and enthusiasm coupled with hands-on experience are the primary ingredients to approaching education. Rather than correcting the student and moving on, I believe each opportunity to teach a mini lesson should be taken, using both abstract, on-the-spot examples and examples out of the student's own work to help make sense of the problem at hand and to identify what, if anything, the student is struggling to comprehend so a solution can be found quickly and organically.
