Fun Facts
I love science! Biology, chemistry and genetics are my favorite subjects and math is always fun =). Some of my hobbies include: motocross, art, jet skiing, wakeboarding, and playing with my dogs!
About Me
I just completed my bachelor's of science in biology at Tarleton State University, my focus was molecular biology and my overall GPA was a 3.8. In the fall I start my masters at Texas Christian University with a teaching assistantship in which I will teach freshmen biology lab. My masters thesis will focus on conservation genetics. I hope to someday work with marine animals!
I have been private tutoring for various science classes, especially chemistry, for about three years now. This past year I was also a supplemental instruction (SI) leader for Tarleton's academic support program. In SI, I was assigned a class that I had already taken and gotten an A in and I was responsible for attending the class and then holding three sessions a week for people in the class to voluntarily attend for extra help. I was also responsible for holding an extra long session right before exams known as "test preps". I enjoy tutoring both privately one-on-one and in small groups, both seem to have their own advantages and disadvantages.
I like to approach tutoring by helping my client tackle assignments from the teacher if possible, that way I know I'm going to most likely cover everything that may appear on the test. After seeing what may be on the test I can then offer more practice problems. I like to have a heads up before my sessions as well, that way I brush up on the topic that needs to reviewed and we can make the most of our time during the session. I also like to give tips and advice on how to study topics and how I was able to remember things along the way. In order to get a good grade in any class, you have to completely learn the material, which means remembering it when its finally time to take the test!
