Fun Facts
I am someone who loves to write, and I spend most of my free time coming up with new characters and stories. I self-published a young adult novel on Amazon last spring as my final project at Carver Center for Arts and Technology, and I am working on another novel now. I love anything creative, from drawing to sewing, and I often make my own clothes.
About Me
I just completed one year at Hampshire College, and have transferred to Goucher College, where I will start as a sophomore in the fall. I am undeclared, but I will be an English Literature major there. I don't technically have a GPA because Hampshire College only gives narrative evaluations. I would be happy to provide my evaluations on request. After college, I plan on writing novels and trying my hand at editing for a publishing house.
Experience
I tutored English over the Internet for the remedial eighth grade class at maryland/catonsville">Catonsville Middle School last year. I tutored as part of a relationship between my high school, Carver Center, and the middle school. I would write lesson plans to help foster reading-comprehension/maryland/baltimore">reading comprehension, such as reading short articles, and review grammar concepts that the students had been taught in class. The program was called MSA Reading Blast, and was meant to help students who are in danger of scoring below proficient
Approach
I like to ask my students what they would like to improve on the most before I start maryland/maryland/baltimore">baltimore">tutoring. I will focus both on what the student says they need to improve and on review of other concepts they need to master. If the student is perfectly competent with the material I give them, I move on to another area. For example, if the student struggles with grammar, I would create exercises that tackle different grammar concepts one at a time, and bring these concepts back for review in subsequent weeks
