I have traveled to Mexico and China and I hope to go to many more places all over the world someday especially Brazil.

One of my favorite shows is House MD, and Grey's Anatomy but I also love the Telenovela soap operas in Spanish.

I love Miami and think that it is one of the greatest cities I have ever lived in.

I was raised in the same town that Gina Davis (a somewhat well known actress) is from, they also filmed Adam Sandler's movie Grownups there.

About Me

My name is Rebecca Brooks. I am a recent graduate from the miami">University of Miami with a Masters Degree in International Relations. I am 25 years old and currently work at Gardner's Market in Miami, Florida as well as intern at Bodyline International. I love to read and write and I enjoy scholarly discussions. I grew up in Massachusetts and spent four years in Greensboro, North Carolina where I studied Political Science and International Relations at guilford-college">Guilford College. I have spent a semester abroad in Beijing, China and also worked for a semester with the non-profit Save the Children in washington-dc">Washington DC. My goal is to work for a non-profit organization and find ways to give back to the community as best I can. I am also considering going back to school for my PHD but I would like to get some work experience first.

I have tutored in English as a second language for four years while I attended Guilford and found it to be an extremely rewarding experience. Through the use of video, music, writing and vocabulary I was able to help adults improve and enhance their English Language skills. I enjoyed teaching new words through songs, and practicing reading through the utilization of newspaper articles. I hope that I can bring similar skills to the table here and help children work to reach their full potential.

I would say my miami">tutoring approach is thus holistic, I attempt to present the subject at hand from a wide range of perspectives. I also encourage questions and comments from the students as a way to clarify that they understand the topic. I believe in having patience with the students and I am willing to explain the same thing in more than one way because sometimes you have to hear the same thing over and over just to grasp what is being said. I enjoy creativity in my miami">tutoring approach and I want the students to feel that learning can be fun.
