Fun Facts
Aside from school, I involve myself in other activities where I can express myself from a creative aspect. I produce music in my free time, and like to think of myself as a instrumental artist. Also, I enjoy writing, in forms that range from poetry to essays. I find both activities to be mediums in which I can translate my imagination into tangible pieces of art.
About Me
I am currently a junior at DePaul University with a major in Marketing and a minor in Spanish. My cumulative GPA is about 3.5. I have made the Dean's List almost every semester that I have been in school and I have been invited to join the National Honor Society. After college, I plan on working, hopefully, in the marketing field. After garnering a adequate amount of experience, I want to return to school to acquire an MBA in marketing.
I have not been a consistent chicago">tutor, but I have gotten the opportunities to do so erratically starting from high school. My senior year in high school, I assisted a teacher in her classroom and part of the time was spent helping numerous second grade students with their homework, particularly Math homework. Fast forward to college, I tutored some high school students with Pre-Algebra. I have also assisted other college students with introductory Spanish courses. Other chicago">tutoring activities include reading along with middle school students and talking about the work being read from a reading-comprehension/illinois/chicago">reading comprehension standpoint.
I prefer to have students attempt to problems in which they are having trouble with before I lend my assistance. For example, if a student is doing a math problem in which they are uncertain about, I let them do what they think is right so 1) I can reassure their intuition if they are correct or 2) demonstrate what they did incorrectly in particular problems, making corrections to their process. I believe this approach is more helpful being that it causes for students to make actual attempts and if they are incorrect, they are comforted rather than discouraged.
