Fun Facts
I am an artist in my own time, I love to paint and make handmade jewelry. I love taking care of my plants and being outside. I like to read, listen to podcasts and books on tape. I like to sing, and I have a brother and sister. I am currently enrolled in an Arts Integration Specialist Certification Program!
About Me
In my primary job I work with 100 teaching artists to design arts integrated programming that uses the arts to engage students of all ages and backgrounds. I am a former New Haven Public Schools 6th Grade teacher, and former New Haven Public Schools Art teacher too, I am dual certified in Arts Education K-12 and Elementary Education K-6. I also teach Graduate and Undergraduate students at Quinnipiac's School of Education how to integrate the arts into their classrooms.
Experience
I graduated from Ithaca College in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education and a double minor in Art History and Anthropology. I then went on to get my Master's in Elementary Education from Quinnipiac University '13 where I graduated Cum Laude. I taught at Conte West Hills School in New Haven for 5 years, first as a 6th grade teacher, and then as the art teacher for Grades 3-8. I am now the Education Manager at the CT based non-profit Arts for Learning CT and am an adjunct Professor.
Approach
I employ an extremely individualized approach with children. Through my unique experience with the intersections of arts and academics, I use the skills that exist across arts and academics to engage students in the parts of learning they struggle with most. Often times misunderstandings can be remedied with an entirely new approach, and I will work to find that with your student.
