Fun Facts

I was born and raised in South Florida, with my parents being Haitian immigrants. As a product of a Caribbean upbringing, I have learned the meaning of hard work and how to cook amazing dishes.
I love being outdoors! I spend a good portion of my time traveling to new camping and hiking spots to simply enjoy nature with my friends. I spend my summers as a camp counselor that's located on a rural campground and have even hiked a portion of the Grand Canyon in Arizona!

About Me

I am a junior Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences major with a concentration in Clinical Professions and pursuing a minor in Child development. When I graduate with my Bachelor's degree, I will seek acceptance into a medical professional school in hopes of fulfilling my aspiration as a physician. I have a passion for education and young minds. Doctors are teachers for their patients and communities. Being that I am not yet a doctor, I will actively do my part as an educator in any capacity.

Experience

I spend majority of my time outside of school involved in mentoring, assisting and volunteering with the youth. I have been working as a teacher's assistant and tutor for a local K-12 charter school for almost two years. I help teach primary reading comprehension, primary math, secondary science and secondary math. Some classes I have actively taught included high school biology, algebra I&II, geometry, math for college readiness, etc. I have also done additional one-on-one sessions for the SAT.

Approach

As a tutor, I have found that each child should be afforded an individualized approach. Keeping that in mind, I attempt to see where the student is understanding a concept and proceed to increase in difficulty until I discover a disconnect. The use of several examples ranging in complexity can help expose the student to various content while revealing the depths of their knowledge on the subject. I will work using this strategy while implementing soft skills such as confidence and motivation.
