About Me
I am a doctoral student in Epidemiology in the School of Public Health, Jackson State University, Mississippi.I have a medical background and interest in research and investigating diseases and determinants of health. One of my goals is to teach part time when I graduate as that would give me opportunity to mentor students and help them reach and utilize their full potential.
Experience
One of the experiences I have had is teaching medical students in the school of medicine in the Caribbean. I helped facilitate their study group sessions and guide them to synthesize and internalize the various topics they have been taught in class.Through the study classes, the students are able to have vivid pictures and clinical angle to their topics.
Approach
Having worked as a clinical tutor in the school of medicine and the approach adopted by the school, I realized that students tend to internalize and remember information better, when they are guided through a topic to figure out answers than giving them answers directly. This was an approach to studying that I wasn't opportune to receive while in school. So my role would be to facilitate their learning process by guiding them from what they already know to what they do not know.
