About Me

I am from Texas but now reside in Alabama. I graduated last year with a Masters in Sociology from Prairie View A&M University with a 4.0 GPA. I graduated in 2016 from Lamar University with a B.S. in Biology. In the near future I will be pursuing my Doctorates in African-American Studies or Sociology. My career goal is to either become a professor of African-American studies or create my own non-profit to help with community development in impoverished communities.

Experience

I have spent time as a permanent substitute teacher, giving instructions for 7th grade science and 11th grade English. While attending Prairie View A&M, I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Researcher where I taught some classes and held tutoring sessions for students. As a former student at Lamar University, I was the Academic Excellence Chair for the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) where I coordinated many tutoring session for both college students and local schools.

Approach

I have always loved and still enjoy school; therefore, I only want to pass that love of learning to other students. My teachers over the years have instilled in me the joy of helping others to learn new and exciting things. I love bringing excitement and new creative ideas into a session. Not everyone learns the same or has the same interest so I make it a priority to get to know everyone personally and observe their behaviors to better tailor my approach for each student.
