About Me
I am a student at Florida International University and will be starting my Junior year with the start of the Fall 2014 semester. My major is education/florida/miami">Special Education and I currently have a 4.0 in my major and a 3.940 overall. After I graduate I plan on going to graduate school to get my doctorate in education/florida/miami">special education. My career goal is to become a school principal.
I have no miami">tutoring experience outside of peer miami">tutoring. However, I taught art to young children ages 3-13 at an art camp for four years. At this camp I also taught children with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities. I have experience with students that ranked on multiple levels of the autism spectrum and was able to connect with them and teach them effectively. I taught at this camp and in classes the art studio offered not only over the summer but also through out the school year over breaks, holidays, and teacher planning days.
My miami">tutoring approach is that any student can learn anything as long as they are taught in the way they learn. As a miami">tutor it would be my job to provide the missing pieces of the subject the student did not understand in school and to make sure it is in a format that they find motivating, fun, and understandable. My approach includes having a good connection with the student as well as a full understanding of what the specific issues the student has with the material. Being able to have a good mental and emotional connection with the student that is still professional is crucial to teaching the student and clarifying everything they did not previously understand.
