About Me
I am finishing up my second year at the University of California,San Diego as a chemical engineering major. i have taken all of the required math courses and organic chemistry courses. When i graduate, i hope to go into energy production or chemical synthesis. My career goal is to lead a team of engineers for a big corporation on various projects. I am an honored student in high school and consistently .
earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher this year.
In high school, I have tutored students of lower grade as part of my community service. I tutored one tenth grader in geometry and another one in chemistry. Working with these students give me an insight on better communication, patience and leadership. I was very happy that my service had a positive impact on their performance. I find tutoring a very challenging, yet rewarding experience. I shared the frustration of my students when they do not understand a concept. However, when they discover and understand something, I shared their joy.
As a student, I learn though examples in science and math classes. So when it comes to teaching, I try to explain the concepts to my students and show them examples based on these concept. When i was tutoring chemistry, my students seem overwhelmed by the formula and equations given. So I worked through some example with him to show how these equations' applications. Some aspects of math are conceptual and therefore can be quite difficult. So i try to use examples and analogies to explain certain mathematical concepts. I've found that drawing and illustration can be used to assist students.
