Fun Facts

I like playing and watching sports. I played tennis and football in high school, so I know how to balance a schedule well. For me staying active is a good way to help keep a person thinking quick and clear. I enjoy creating my own projects at home and learning how things work. As an engineer I have a big interest in how things are created and how they are designed for their use. Often I like to get simple concepts and apply them to projects that I can do at home. I am also a car enthusiast and I know a quite a bit about computers.

About Me

I am in my last year at the University of California, San Diego for a B.S. in mechanical engineering. I know a lot about the college experience and how incoming students should take advantage of their new opportunities. I hope to get a job in the automotive engineering industry. After I learn more about the professional engineering field and acquire more experience. While acquiring experience in the engineering field I will also be working towards passing the EIT and eventually the PE.

I have tutored high school students in math and science when I was in high school and am comfortable working with the student to better their learning experience. I was a member and leader of the National Honors Society in my high school and coordinated the tutoring program that we had with our high school. We would work with the students on many subjects, but more commonly it was math and science based subjects.

I believe it is the responsibility of the tutor to learn and the student and understand what works best for him or her to better the learning process. Everyone is different and it helps to have an open minded tutor for the student to learn easier and more efficiently. I like to guide the student to the answer. I ask them questions about what the problem is saying to help them come to the realization by themselves. This way they learn how to search for the right answer. I show them why the process or equation is the right one and help build their confidence in their own work, which is an important test taking skill.
