Fun Facts

I skateboard everywhere on my college campus and I love Mexican food. Hobbies of mine include playing board games with friends and eating at the various food places in San Diego. As you can tell, I love eating. I also really love engineering and helping students reach their potential.

About Me

I am a fourth year soon-to-be-graduate from the University of California San Diego. I will graduate in December of 2014 with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering. My involvement on campus includes leading bible studies with InterVarsity Christian fellowship, acting as VP of Finance for Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, and driving UCSD Shuttles as a part-time job. My future plans include getting a job to see where my passions lie and going to graduate school if it suits my profession.

In high school I also tutored Geometry and Algebra during my Junior and Senior years. I joined Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society (TBP) last year and have served as a volunteer tutor for engineering students. I volunteered three hours a week from this last September to December. Currently I work as a private tutor working between 2-3 hours a week depending on other commitments.

The times in school where I have had the most success have been when I could think about how something works while I am being tested. I hope to provide students with methods that help them teach themselves by building on the rules they already know. This is a fundamental necessity for problem solving. Along with that, I hope to use my experiences to guide students along in what works well and what does not work well when studying. I also know that acknowledging progress along the way is crucial in maintaining motivation so I use positive reinforcement regularly.
