Fun Facts

Hello, dear students and parents, I was born in Michigan, but I live in Utah now. I love anything to do with oceans, lakes, rivers, swimming, fishing, boating, floating, kayaking, snorkeling, and scuba diving. I am a book dragon, not just a book worm. I am also a published author. I adore chocolate. Unicorns are my favorite animals. I play Roblox and Minecraft but not well. I love music and play the piano. I have two big, huggable chocolate Labs, Max and Daisy. I love to learn.

About Me

I have a doctoral degree in Education and specialize in reading and writing intervention and improvement strategies. I received my BA in French Language and Literature from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, an MA from BYU in English, and my EDd from Northcentral University.

Experience

I am a certified academic tutor and have years of experience teaching in both traditional and online classrooms. I am currently certified to teach core subjects in grades K-12. I work with students from third grade through doctoral levels. I have professional experience as a technical writer and editor. I am certified to teach ESL students from primary beginners to advanced students preparing for TESOL and other exams. I am also a homeschool parent.

Approach

I believe that learning is a fun, exciting, lifelong journey. I do my best to run a personalized, engaging, interactive classroom environment. As a follower of the Socratic learning method, students learn much more from their own questions and discoveries than they do from me. I believe in creating a friendly, warm, learning environment where my students feel safe asking questions, making mistakes, and trying again until they succeed at their learning tasks.
