I am an avid bibliophile! I love reading fiction books because I can "visit" another world and it allows my imagination to run wild. My other hobbies are watching baseball, football, and hockey.

About Me

I am a junior English major concentrating in Secondary Education at Alabama A&M university. My GPA is a 3.82. When I graduate, I will teach at the high school level and pursue a Masters degree in English Language Arts. My ultimate goal is to improve my community by teaching critical thinking and communication skills to tomorrow's leaders.

Experience

As a member of the Alabama A&M University Honors Program, we tutored kids in a neighborhood after school program weekly. I mainly tutored in reading comprehension and language arts, although all subjects were discussed during my experience there. As part of my Educator Program requirements, I assisted class in a school for kids with exceptionalities. During that class I assisted students in reading comprehension and language arts as well. Working at Frog Tutoring allows me to help students more.

Approach

As a future educator, I found that the best way to connect with students is to ensure that they are comfortable and confident in themselves when asking for assistance. When I was younger, I was afraid of asking for help because I did not want to be seen as dumb. My goal as a tutor is to make sure that students feel confident in asking me questions because this is a safe learning environment. I will stress positivity while teaching them appropriate strategies to solve their problems.
