Fun Facts
I love playing sports, being outside, listening to music and traveling. I was the drum major of my high school marching band, and I played saxophone until college. I spent a semester abroad in Barcelona, Spain during the second half of 2011.
About Me
I was born and raised in connecticut/stamford">Stamford, CT, 45 minutes outside of New York City. I graduated in the top 5% of my high school class. I am now a junior at the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, pursuing a double major in finance and Spanish. I play to pursue a career in consulting or finance, and use my Spanish language skills to help build relationships with clients and friends.
As a member of the National Honor Society in high school, I supervised, coordinated, and tutored at “Period 8,” our member-run atlanta">tutoring program. Teachers could send students who needed extra help to meet with a atlanta">tutor after school, or students could come on their own volition. I helped to match students with atlanta">tutors, making sure that everyone’s needs were being met. I also tutored once everyone else was set up, specializing in Spanish, English and Math. Since starting college, I have been a volunteer for the Waller Scholars, a mentoring program that helps underprivileged students set their sights on going to college. We helped them hone in on their interests to brainstorm potential majors/careers. We plan to have more of a atlanta">tutoring focus this coming semester. I also served as a private atlanta">tutor this past summer for a college-level Spanish class, helping a student pass her final exams.
One of my strengths that serves me well as a atlanta">tutor is my patience. I realize that concepts that may have come easily to me may be harder for others to understand. I am eager to approach problem areas from multiple directions until they are no longer problematic. Sufficient time should be spent on building a
foundation in basics before moving on to more challenging topics. I strive to achieve full understanding and avoid memorization. Honesty, communication and teamwork are crucial from all parties, including me, the student, parents and teachers, in order to succeed. It is hard for me to know what to teach or how much time to spend on a topic if I don’t know the current level of understanding, and I will not
