I have type one diabetes and was diagnosed in middle school my 7th grade year, which has inspired my career path. I played 4 instruments in high school; French horn, mellophone, alto saxophone and Bari saxophone. I am from Miami, Florida and moved to Louisiana my junior year of high. I enjoy reading and landscaping
About Me
I am a senior majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I've been on the Dean's list for the past 3 consecutive years. Once I obtain my bachelors of science, I aspire to apply to medical school and pursue a Phd/MD with a concentration in pediatric endocrinology. My ultimate goal is to become a Pediatric Endocrinologist.
Experience
As a member of numerous organizations, I have had the opportunity to work with students through mentoring and tutoring. Some of the organizations I am apart of are National Institute of Science, the Nu Chapter of Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Honor Society, the Eta Mu Chapter of Beta Beta Beta Biological National Honor Society. I have taken part in Upward Bound TRIO Program at Southern University and A&M College. Math and Science Division: Research mentor for high school student.
Approach
As a tutor, instead of giving students answers, I feel it is my responsibility to not only teach them the content, but study skills as well as life skills that will help them be successful in not only their classes but if everyday life. I feel it essential for students to make a real world connection to show what they are learning is meaningful and essential to learn.
