About Me
I am an electrical engineering student at Southern Methodist University who will be a Senior for the 2014-15 academic year. My GPA in my major is 3.976, and my overall GPA is 3.914. After graduation, I plan to attend law school while working an engineering job part time to help pay for the cost. I am a President's Scholar at SMU and a member of the Robert S. Hyer Society, SMU's most prestigious academic scholarship and society for current students, respectively.
I have no "official" dallas">tutoring experience, but as long as I can remember I have been dallas">tutoring my peers in almost every subject. In high school, I was a part of study groups for calculus classes, chemistry, physics, history, government, Spanish, and other courses. In all of these, I took the lead as more of a dallas">tutor than a member studying. This allowed me to review the material and confirm my understanding of it while also helping my classmates reach their full potential.
My approach to dallas">tutoring is to first determine on which particular parts of a subject the student needs dallas">tutoring. If a calculus student can find derivatives in his/her sleep but struggles with performing integration, then there is no need to cover all of calculus. Only the portions on which the student struggles need to be reviewed. From there I would show a simple example of how to proceed with a particular problem, then a moderately challenging example. Then, to ensure that the student has learned from these examples, I will work on a few problems with the student until he or she can do them without any of my help. Only then do we know that the topic is understood.
