Fun Facts

I am absolutely obsess with Korean dramas. My sister introduced me to my first drama during winter of 2010. Since then, I've learned enough Korean to introduce myself and order Korean food. I even know how to sing Happy Birthday in Korean!

About Me

I am currently in the process of obtaining my master's degree in TESOL. I work as an ESOL Interventionist in a public high school now. Upon graduation, I hope to teach abroad, hopefully Korea. I also plan to teach at the college level.

Last year, I worked as an Interventionist for City Year Miami. My work with City Year Miami extended beyond the classroom as I provided miami">tutoring and mentoring services after school to over 150 students. Throughout undergrad, I tutored History, English, Writing, Theology, and Sociology. I also tutored at the Atlantic Cape Community College.

In my various miami">tutoring experiences, I've found that students respond well to specific feedback using the sandwich method. The sandwich method is when the student is first given a compliment on specific task, such as, "you used a great transition word in this sentence." Followed by constructive feedback, such as, "however, you need to clarify this particular point for your audience." Lastly, another compliment is given, "overall, this is a fantastic sentence." It does not help to tell students everything that they are doing wrong. They also need to know what they are doing right. That's why this approach works.
