Fun Facts

I have five siblings, all sisters, who I can depend on for anything. I love running, having done it since I was 12 years old. I also love to paint, although I am still learning to do so. My passion is traveling, having studied abroad in Spain and Argentina, and my dream is to travel to every country in Central and South America. I love helping people get excited about pursuing their goals.

About Me

I am a graduate of the University of san Diego with a B.A. in Spanish and Psychology and a minor in Latin American Studies. My cumulative GPA was 3.88, while my Psychology GPA was 4.0 and my Spanish GPA was 3.86. I was a member of USD Cross Country and Track, and I was a Resident Assistant. While I am still unsure of the length of my postgraduate education, I know that I want to pursue a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Currently, I work as a Program Assistant for a non-profit organization and as a Visiting Teacher in San Diego Unified School District.

As a Peer Coach at USD Center for Student Success, I individually counseled students on academic probation to improve their GPAs. We set achievable academic goals and worked extensively on study skills and motivational tactics. Additionally, I worked as a tutor in a middle school Study Skills class helping children with learning disabilities complete their homework assignments. I am also the go-to editor-and-chief of my family, frequently assisting my sisters with their writing skills.

I like to take a student-centered approach in my tutoring. Instead of telling students how to complete an assignment, I prefer to ask students how they learn best. Working as a Peer Coach, I realized that what works well for one student is not necessarily the best fit for another. Therefore, I like to first help the student create a plan with concrete steps that will help him or her learn in the best way possible. If the student is a visual learner, we can draw diagrams or silly illustrations. If the student is an organized thinker, we can make flowcharts to better understand the relationships that exist within the material. I always make sure that the little goals and specific steps that I help the student create can lead them to an achievable end-goal.
