Fun Facts
One thing you may not know about me is that I come from a Russian family. This filled me with a love of languages and studying arts and humanities early on, as I always found that oral and written stories were amazing ways to connect with one's history and culture.
About Me
I graduated Pomona College in 2018 with a degree in English literature. I am currently a New York based part-time Religious Studies teacher and am passionate about writing, reading, and music. I would love to continue studying and teaching in these fields, and hope to pursue a masters in literature or education. I enjoy working with students and facilitate the process of writing and creative expression.
Experience
I have been a tutor since high school, as I discovered an affinity for teaching early in life. During my time in college, I was a teacher's assistant for macroeconomics and a music mentor for piano students. Since graduating, I have also taught middle schoolers in after-school settings, organized writing workshops, and led writing workshops at local libraries. My focuses are primarily assisting in writing, reading comprehension, and application help.
Approach
I have found that students I work with realize their fullest potential when provided with direction and structure, but also a strong focus on flexibility and room for their own voice. I want to make sure the tools I am providing serve not only to complete the current assignment, but provide lifelong skills and critical thinking to help in future academic and personal endeavors.
