Fun Facts
I am a middle child of three and have lived in Arizona most of my life. I really enjoy playing tennis and try playing whenever I have free time. I also am recently trying to learn piano though with school and everything I don't have very much time to practice much.
About Me
I am a junior Mathematics BS major at Arizona State University and I'm focusing most of my math classes towards the direction of statistics. I am eventually planning on going back to school after getting my bachelors degree and working towards getting a masters degree in statistics. I really enjoy statistics and hope to eventually become a statistician.
My last tutoring experience I had the opportunity to tutor a student in Algebra 1 who was attending Chandler/Gilbert community college. His mom was looking for a tutor to help him and my mom works with his mom and she suggested that I could help him so she hired me. I tutored him twice a week on T/Th for an hour a day and it was really great helping him and being able to see him start to understand and grasp concepts that he had trouble with. I loved the experience and he said I was very helpful and helped him tremendously in getting a B+ in his class.
One thing that always annoyed me in school and still does sometimes in my University math classes is when teachers make assumptions and also when they demoralize students. I always make sure to be as kind and positive as possible with my students right away as I want to make sure that they feel comfortable learning around me and aren't afraid to ask questions. I also will never make assumptions with students and I'll always ask questions and make sure students understand everything that is being explained to them before moving on. I also make it clear to my students that everyone has some struggles with math and it's perfectly normal to get confused sometimes with work and that this does not make you any less capable than anyone else at mastering mathematics.
Experience
algebra, pre calc, calc I, calcII experience tutoring.
Approach
I like to not rush things as I was never a quick student in school but rather I simply make sure things are understood before I move on.
