Fun Facts
Something I'd like to eventually do is travel the world and see what else there is to offer in other countries. I love learning about and experiencing other cultures so traveling would be perfect to do that. My favorite sport is baseball, has been since I was a little kid and I love going to the games. I'm also someone that likes to be out of the house a lot with friends having fun.
About Me
I attend Florida International University, my major is currently Physical Education but I will soon be switching it to Biomedical Engineering. I'm entering my sophomore year and I was just placed on the Dean's list in the spring for the first time. My GPA is currently 3.58 and after I graduate I'd like to go to the University of Florida to get a masters in either Physical Therapy or Biomedical Engineering. Whatever choice I make i'd just like to be able to say that I succeeded.
I worked as a miami">tutor through a work-study program at FIU called America Reads during my fall and spring semesters. I worked with 1st graders in almost all their subject areas throughout the school year but focused mostly on reading and reading-comprehension/florida/miami">reading comprehension. It was my first experience as a miami">tutor but provided valuable knowledge for me. I loved that job a lot because I could actually see a difference being made in the kids, whether it was small or noticeable, and its one of the reasons that I'm applying to be a frog miami">tutor.
Overall I like to be positive, encouraging and understanding when miami">tutoring. When students are presented with a problem I'll let them think it through and work it out themselves, this is the best way to get a sense of where they are. Asking them questions is also always a necessity to be sure that they know what they're doing and if not so they can realize what it is they aren't doing. It's also important to me to push students when they feel nervous or timid so they can be motivated while not trying to push too far. The most important thing is for the student to understand that they have potential and need to be confident in whatever it is that they are doing.
