Fun Facts
I like to be active and am constantly exploring new ways to exercise! Since high school I've tried out soccer, badminton, tennis, and swimming. In college I continued dancing, a hobby I started as a young girl and even tried rock climbing! Now a days I find it's more difficult to be active but continue playing tennis, dancing, and am exploring yoga.
About Me
I live in California currently and am part of a masters program online with Boston University studying Computer Systems and Health Informatics. I graduated Manga Cum Laude from Occidental College in 2018 with a BA in Cognitive Science with a minor in Neuroscience. My goal is to apply my skills in Information Technology and programming towards research concerning neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease.
Experience
As a student that was consistently a part of the dean's list and an honor student I took up opportunities to assist my classmates and tutor. In high school I tutored for Spanish and Psychology. In college I worked as a note-taker for student's with disabilities, a job that was important to me based on my personal experience with learning disabilities in my family, giving me an understanding of how difficult access to support can be in an academic setting.
Approach
As a child, I noticed that schooling can tend to cater towards visual learners and those who understand how to use problem solving skills to do better on multiple choice tests for example. My brother had a difficult time adjusting and quickly fell behind due to his diagnosed learning disability. I took time to help explain concepts and tutor him by adapting to his style of learning and focusing in on new perspectives on approaching the material. I carry these principles into my current tutoring
