Fun Facts
One passion people will quickly learn about me is I love family. I am the oldest girl of 4 and we were raised as military children. We are best friends because we moved so much as children. Someday soon, I will learn to speak Spanish well enough to get to know my LatinX scholars without a translator.
About Me
I am a Distinguished Educator at George Washington Carver High School in New Orleans, LA. I've been a Science teacher here for 4 years. I hope to inspire a future graduate of MIT.
Experience
As an teacher for Teach for America, I began my work with 35, 5th graders at an elementary school. We learned test-taking skills, and middle school readiness. I completed my time with TFA as a teacher for 32, 2nd graders who learned responsibility and teamwork. While attending a teaching conference at the end of my second year teaching I was asked to join the team of creative extremist at George Washington Highschool. I am currently in my 5th year as a teacher for 90 scholars of Biology.
Approach
I believe that every child who can will. Given the proper tools every child can be successful at every subject. This has been a mindset that has allowed me to nurture the curiosity and intelligence in the scholars I have the opportunity to teach.
