Fun Facts

People will quickly learn that I have an addiction to learning, and this desire to constantly learn shapes my hobbies. I play fighting games such as Street Fighter and pursue my self-study of the guitar in my free time as it provides me an opportunity to learn and develop a skill outside of my area of expertise in a variety of ways. I often learn many lessons about education through my experiences in these areas and enjoy bringing the lessons on mentality back into the classroom.

About Me

I am a Masters student at Sonoma State University in the Literature program. I specialize in literary analysis and critical theory, and I hope to proceed towards attaining my Doctorate in Literary Criticism after I earn my Masters in Literature. My ultimate goal is to pursue professorship at a university and grow a passion for literature in students both within and outside of the English major.

Experience

I have tutored classmates in various subjects since high school, ranging from Calculus to Essay Writing to Biology. In college I had the opportunity to tutor students in their essay writing, research and study skills, and literary analysis, with several students returning each semester, some asking me to be an unofficial adviser for senior projects. I aim to share the experience I've gained with Students and develop an academic mindset towards school that prepares them for success beyond school.

Approach

As a tutor, I deeply believe it is my job to not only teach students the concepts behind the course material, but prepare them with study habits and problem-solving skills that go beyond the subject in question and can improve their academic lives overall. To this end I do not give students answers, but instead seek to reinforce the concepts taught in class in a manner that is clear and understandable while remaining easy to internalize.
