Fun Facts

An interesting fact about me is that I have two authentic accents and nationalities. I was born in the United States but grew up in South Africa. I have been to 4 of the 7 continents and I hope to complete that list soon! My favorite sport is track and field and I consider myself to be somewhat competent in the 800m.

About Me

I am a premed sophomore majoring in Biology at Philander Smith College. I've been on my school's Presidential list for academic merit for the past 3 semesters. After graduation, I hope to get accepted into medical school and become my ultimate goal of a pediatric surgeon.

Experience

During my time in high school, I acted as a mentor for a math class at a local elementary school. I also participated as a science/arkansas/little-rock">computer science tutor for the freshman class as a senior in high school. Currently, in college, I am an acting mentor as part of the Big Brother Big Sisters of Arkansas and I am also planning to start tutoring with the Arkansas kids reading program.

Approach

During my time in middle school and my early high school, I found myself struggling with multiple subjects and I failed to find the necessary support in these fields. Eventually, I would come to learn the benefit of having a tutor figure. My tutor helped me understand what I was learning in ways that my teachers couldn't covey. As a tutor, I hope to connect with students in the same way my tutor connected with me. I plan to break down the materials and bring simplicity to complex matters.
