Fun Facts
I grew up in Texas, and I love this very dynamic state. Whenever I get the chance, I gear up and head off to the tennis courts to play tennis with my friends. I've played tennis for most of my life, and I love both the game's physical and mental aspects. In addition to athletics, I enjoy playing the violin and performing for city events in San Antonio. Finally, I also enjoy hanging out with friends and trying out new types of cuisines.
About Me
I graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas in 3 years with a Bachelor's in Neuroscience (Magna Cum Laude). Currently, I am studying neuroscience at the Master's level and preparing to apply to medical schools. I'm also involved in research studying about memory using fMRI brain imaging. My goal is to become a physician and eventually be involved in medical education. I know that I'll have the honor of teaching in the future, and I would love to work with students to reach their goals.
Experience
Initially, I started tutoring at a math & reading program in high school. I enjoyed helping students overcome difficult concepts to give them the confidence to continue learning. As a TA in college, I enjoyed setting up weekly reviews and presented lectures in class. When prepping the lesson materials, I pushed myself to explain the topics in an engaging way so that everyone grasped the necessary concepts. I'd set up group activities alongside the lectures to have a collaborative atmosphere.
Approach
I first make sure to give a structured plan for tackling the necessary content. I will then go through example problems with students to apply the information. I can answer questions about the concepts and how to move forward. I found that this method helped me a lot when I struggled with difficult concepts. Having a guide that encouraged me to learn with them actively boosted my confidence. I hope to be a positive influence and guide my students toward their goals.
