One thing that I love to do is play piano. I have been a pianist for over nine years and I like to play classical and video game music-especially music from the final fantasy series. Sometimes I compose music for the piano and for full string sections.
During the summer, I go on three day backpacking trips. Quite often, these trips are off-trail. I enjoy backpacking because it tests me physically, I have an opportunity to enjoy the natural world and take in all its beauty, and I grow closer to
About Me
I am an electrical power engineering student finishing my sophomore year at folsom">Folsom Lake College. I am transferring to Sacramento State University in the fall where I will complete my degree within two years. In the future, I want to work international and be a part of designing and building multimillion dollar projects such as coal, natural gas, and hydro generation facilities.
I have had a fascination with mathematics and physics since I was 14 years old. I had an innate curiosity and drive to understand how the physical world operated from the extremely large visible world of planetary bodies orbiting suns and the theory of relativity, to the extremely small quantum world of the atom. I wanted to learn mathematics because it was mysterious and difficult, and I did not understand it. Throughout high school, I learned enough to do the work; however, I did not have the depth of understanding that I really wanted. So when I started college, I began in Algebra II and I dedicated myself to learn as much detail as possible and to UNDERSTAND how math really works. And three years later after completing Calculus III, I still am learning.
I was employed as a sacramento">tutor at folsom">Folsom Lake College for a year. Through this experience, I have learned effective methods to teach and interact with students. One trend I noticed that is prevalent in the modern educational system is that textbooks (and some teachers) complicate mathematics so much that students are confused and must struggle to learn the material. However this is sad because mathematics is a beautiful and simple system that anyone can learn. Once one clears away the unneeded information and the fluffy math language, the concepts are simple. That is my job and mission. To simplify the material and teach it in a form so that anyone can understand what is really happening within the mathematics.
