Fun Facts
Some of my favorite things in the world include reading a good novel, taking a hike and getting to experience new cultures through travel! A fun fact about me is that I just got back from a study abroad in Paris.
About Me
I am a senior in the Honors College at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am double majoring in Spanish and Human Development and Family Studies in the School of Education. When I graduate, I hope to teach English as a Second Language in Spain in order to allow me to pursue my passion of teaching and speaking Spanish!
Experience
In 2019, I volunteered weekly at a local middle school helping English Language Learners improve upon their reading proficiency. I have also tutored elementary-aged students of various ages in reading, math and ESL. I have had extensive experience helping students with their Spanish homework (up to high school level) in informal settings. Most recently, I have helped adults facing homelessness make resumes, cover letters and learn computer and financial literacy.
Approach
As a future teacher, I love to work with people and help them to understand a concept that they had previously struggled with. I am passionate about this because I understand from my own experience that being challenged by a subject does not reflect a one's abilities or academic success, but is a reflection of perseverance. As a tutor, I will use this mindset to encourage students' learning while also making the content just challenging enough that they grow confident in their own abilities.
