Fun Facts

I have studied abroad in South Korea during my sophomore year of college. During one of our field trips they even brought us to the DMZ! I speak Dutch at home with my parents, since my family is from the only Dutch speaking country in South America. I am a huge foodie and love learning new recipes or finding great places to eat!

About Me

I am a recent graduate from Cornell University and majored in mechanical engineering. I am most interested in the sustainability field and will be starting my full-time position at a green building consultancy next year.

Experience

I had an opportunity to tutor AP Physics and trigonometry in high school. In college, I was part of several engineering project teams in which I taught workshops showing students how to utilize certain engineering software. I became a project team lead of sustainable design in my senior year and worked with members to build their team skills. All of my engineering classes were highly collaborative therefore I was able to build confidence in explaining difficult concepts to others.

Approach

I know exactly what it feels like to be frustrated by a complex problem. However over years of school, I have seen how any intimidating problem can be broken down into smaller bite-size pieces that anyone can have the capability to solve. I would show this to students during sessions as well so that gradually they have the confidence and patience to tackle anything that seems to be too challenging initially, in the classroom or beyond.
