Fun Facts
I am the sort of person who dabbles in as many things as I possibly can! So far this has led me to go so far as opening a hand-painted shoe business, joining sports teams and learning to play flute and oboe. I also really love wire-work, gardening, ceramics, sports, Calvin & Hobbes, and teaching!
About Me
This year I was a senior at the Academy of Math, Engineering and Science, although in the past two years I took most of my classes from the University of Utah (about half of which were honors classes). Both my general and Major GPAs are 4.0. My academic passions lie in any and all of the sciences and all things math related! This fall I will be headed off to Stanford University to study chemical engineering. After that I hope and plan to go to graduate school to eventually become an engineer.
Over the past five years I have had the opportunity to work as a teacher and personal tutor (hebrew, haftarah and torah cantillations) third and seventh graders at my synagogue. This year I was able to tutor ninth through twelfth graders from most any math class at the Academy for Math, Engineering and Science. I also tutored and mentored students at Rose Park Elementary School ages 8-11 (all subjects).
In retrospect, my finest teachers were always positive, encouraging, thorough, and responsive to my needs--traits that I have tried to carry with me as a tutor. I believe that students should be encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves. If student is struggling with a topic, it is the tutor's job to present the material in whatever way helps the student, even if that requires multiple approaches!
