Fun Facts

I love cooking, and sharing delicious food with friends and family. I have been eating a plant-based diet for 4 years, and it makes me so happy to "trick" people into eating a healthy meal with no idea that it is good for their bodies. I also have been getting into rock climbing since January 2014, and have taken salsa dancing lessons as well. I try to be active and healthy with body & mind!

About Me

I'm Tascha. I've grown up in the Salt Lake City valley, and just finished my science degrees at the University of Utah, where I am majored in chemistry and physics and maintained a GPA of 3.694. I know, it sounds insane, but it's been a great journey. I have always been passionate and excited about helping people understand math and science, two subjects that most have a difficult time with. My long term goal is to teach chemistry, physics, and/or math to high school student or at community college.

As far as professional experience, I have been a teaching assistant in the University of Utah chemistry department for two years., where I received the "tutor of the summer 2012" award. I've taught everything from general chemistry, to labs, to advanced chemistry classes. I have been tutoring in math, chemistry, and physics on the middle school level to college since 2013. I just graduated, so I'm eager to continue helping students understand math and science since I have much more time to dedicate to tutoring.

I'm a very patient person, and will try multiple ways of explaining a particular concept until the moment it clicks, and I make sure that it will stick by solidifying the material with practice problems. I also teach my students how to study better and more effectively by having them talk out their thought process as they go to ensure that they are on the right track. I treat each problem as a puzzle, rather than work, and just teach the student the correct techniques to solve it. It turns the problem into a game, and makes learning fun.
