Fun Facts
I love to dance! During college, I minored in Dance to make sure that I always had time in my schedule for my favorite activity. My favorite dance class in college was an African Modern class. It was so much fun a great work out! I also love watching the San Francisco Giants. Another fun fact is that I have 37 first cousins!
About Me
I recently graduated from UC Berkeley with a major in Integrative Biology and a minor in Dance. This month, I will begin taking classes at a Post-Bac program at SFSU in order to better prepare myself to apply to medical school next year. My ultimate goal is to become a primary care pediatrician.
During high school, I tutored frequently. I tutored fifth grade math for one year. I also tutored a student in Algebra II for one year. In addition, I volunteered at a tutoring club where I helped my peers with all subjects of high school math. Also, I volunteered at an elementary school for one year, where I tutored first-fifth grade kids in math, English, and Social Studies.
As a tutor, I bring enthusiasm to whichever subject I'm teaching. I first realized that I really loved to learn math when my sixth grade math teacher made me believe that learning math was like solving a fun puzzle. I believe that learning proper study skills for a subject is almost as important as understanding the material. As a tutor, I relay to my students all of the effective study skills that I've learned in high school and college, including time management, as well as the use of flashcards and study guides. I am also very non-judgmental and open to all questions, creating a safe environment for learning.
