Fun Facts

From the earliest memory I can recall, I immersed myself in sports: lots and lots of sports and activities. I competed in volleyball tournaments and matches for my school and my club teams during high school. Often, I'd travel to different states to play in national championships where my team would face teams from all 50 states and Puerto Rico and Guam. My happiest moments came from the experiences I had with my fellow teammates– hardworking and amazing people that I will forever remember.

About Me

I am a rising junior Physics major at the University of San Francisco. Upon graduating, I aim to go to the University of California, Berkeley, where I hope to obtain a Ph.D. in physics to springboard me to my ultimate goal of becoming a physics researcher and professor. Currently, I work with a research team at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where I and several close colleagues of mine, study Gravitational Lensing– phenomena that impact large scale galaxy systems.

Experience

Throughout high school, I worked as a tutor for General and AP Chemistry and General Physics classes. I tutored students a few times a week throughout my junior and senior year of high school. Upon entering college, I still felt that I could help tutor students in STEM courses; Not too shortly after entering college, I quickly began volunteering and tutoring in math classes at the University of San Francisco and Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival.

Approach

When I was younger, I had enormous difficulty in school with many subject areas, particularly STEM. In middle school, I had a Math teacher that encouraged me and promoted my confidence, and who helped me realize my potential. As a tutor, I look to employ the same attitude my middle school math teacher had, years ago. I believe it's my responsibility to not only teach students necessary academic content but display study skills that will lead them to become successful as a student.
