Fun Facts
I have been an animal lover all my life! For most of my life I have lived in homes with one or more animals. Dogs, cats, horses, cows, and goats have been some of my four-legged friends. My horses, cows, and goats even had babies over the years!
About Me
I am an Orange County native who graduated from California State University, Bakersfield in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. I also minored in history and studied child psychology and child development. I passed the CBEST examination in October 2004.
Experience
I have over 10 years of experience as a substitute teacher, tutor, and child care provider in Kern County.. The students I have worked with include students from the preschool, elementary, and junior high school levels. I have also done volunteer work with children in Vacation Bible School programs at Calvary Chapels Bakersfield and mesa">Costa Mesa. Other volunteer experience with children includes helping out in the Sunday school program at Calvary Chapel Bakersfield.
Approach
For most of my years in school, I was fascinated by the job my teachers had and knew I wanted to become a teacher. My goal has always been to be the kind of teacher my favorite teachers were. I believe it is important for teachers to be kind, compassionate, fun, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. These are all characteristics I saw in teachers I have always admired, and I strongly wish to display these same attributes when working with my students so that my students will be eager to learn.
