About Me
I go to maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">columbia-university">maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia University with a current GPA of 3.53. I am a biology and English double major on the pre-med track. I love tutoring and was a very active tutor in high school. I am excited to start again in college. I plan to go to medical school after college. I have been active Beat Chief and Associate in the maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia Daily Spectator as well as involved with Health Leads and dancing programs. I also am a research assistant and clinical assistant at CUMC. I recently won a volunteering in excellence award.
I tutored once a week in high school for elementary/middle school students. My main experience was with math and English. My key to success with tutoring is listening to the needs of my students. If I am moving too fast I make sure to adjust my speed to the need of the student, and similarly, if I am going to slowly, I will try to challenge my student a little more. I always breakdown the answers and encourage my students to then explain things to me and other people in order to help develop a deeper understanding of the material.
I like to go very slowly and explain things step by step. I believe in listening to the student, allowing them to explain their rationale and working from there step by step. I think we learn best when we try to explain concepts to other people!
