Fun Facts
One thing people find interesting about me is my love for reading across all subjects, especially U.S. History!
About Me
I'm a public school teacher in Harlem with years of experience in reading intervention, education/new-york/new-york">special education, and ESL. I am pursuing a Masters in Literacy at Teachers College, Columbia University. As an undergraduate, I was an English major, and my first Masters degree is in Elementary/Early Childhood education.
Experience
While in Graduate School, I tutored elementary aged students, reviewed college essays, and taught ESL at a private Japanese school in Westchester. I am currently a New York City public school teacher with a strong passion for what I do. I tutored all through last school year and on weekends, mostly covering reading intervention for struggling readers. Teaching through the COVID era has shown my ability to adapt to any environment.
Approach
In my high school years, certain subjects became difficult and therefore discouraged me from pursuing them further. From the help of many skilled educators, I went on to complete a Graduate degree and pursue my dreams. I hope to do the same for students who feel discouraged.
